OBITUARY:
Christian Yungen
Late resident of Route 1, Box 452, Salem, in a local nursing home, January 1, at the age of 83. Survived by three sons, Robert F.; Carl A, and Arthur R. Yungen, all of Salem; brother Abraham Yungen, Hillsboro; sister, Mrs. Carrie Richen, Portland. Member of the Bethany Bible Church. Services will be Friday, January 4, at 1:30 p.m. in the Howell-Edwards Chapel.

Rites Set Friday for C. Yungen Of Spring Valley
SPRING VALLEY, Jan. 2-Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Salem for Christian Yungen, a longtime resident of the Spring Valley and Lincoln communities who died Tuesday at the age of 83.
Yungen moved his wife and three sons to a farm in Spring Valley in 1919 where they engaged in dairying and general farming until 1945 when he retired and moved to a smaller place at Lincoln.
The deceased was a charter member of the Dairy Co-op and the Spring Valley chapter of the Farmers Union. He had served on the Spring Valley School Board and was active in other community affairs. He was also a member of Bethany Bible Church and was on the church consistory board for many years.
Yungen was born in Switzerland Nov. 23, 1873 and came with his parents, brother and sisters to Portland on Easter Sunday 1888. He was married Oct. 7, 1910 to Margaret Hofer and the couple resided several years in Portland, later moving to Amity where he was engaged in dairying.
Survivors include three sons, Robert F. Yungen, Carl A. Yungen and Arthur Yungen, all of Salem.
The Rev. C. W. H. Sauerwein will officiate at final rites in the Howell-Edwards Funeral chapel. Burial will be in Zena Cemetery.
