1940 CA CENSUS - Boyd Wade (39y, b Ohio, married, no occupation given, living in Piqua, Ohio in 1935) enumerated as a resident of Victoria Hotel, 128 E First St, Los Angeles

DISCREPANCY - There is some question as to Boyd's parentage. Harley and Laura Wade appear in 1920 census of Toldeo, Lucas Co, Ohio [ED 92, sheet 21A] living at 1524 Norwood Ave. They were not found in the 1910 census, but in the 1900 census Harley was living in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co, Ohio, with a wife Edith [ED 161, sheet 13A] and Laura Weldy was living with her parents William and Callie Weldy in Piqua, Miami Co, Ohio, born March 1882, Ohio, single, no children [ED 94, sheet 12A]. Boyd is not with either family. In the 1910 census, Boyd Weldy (11y, b Ohio) appears as a grandson of William and Callie Weldy in Piqua, Miami Co, Ohio [ED 131, sheet 1B]. This suggests that Boyd was actually a Weldy and took the Wade name after going to live with his aunt Laura Weldy Wade and her husband Harley.
