New York [her age makes this unlikely unless she is actually a step-mother-in-law], b. New York, Louise Lockley, age 25, identified as sister-in-law, b. Ohio, Fred Lockley, age 9, identified as brother-in-law, b. Kansas, Daisy Lockley, age 5, identified as sister-in-law, b. Utah, and E. D. Shupbach, female, age 64, identified as mother [of James], b. OBITUARY: 

J. R. Shepard
Funeral services for J. R. Shepard, 2527 N. E. 57th avenue, who died Saturday will be held Tuesday at 11 A.M. at the Clough-Barrick funeral home in Salem, with interment at the Zena cemetery.
Mr. Shepard was born in Missouri July 1, 1854, later moving to Kansas where he learned his trade as a printer. From Kansas he went to Salt Lake City, where he became foreman of the Salt Lake Tribune, later becoming one of the owners.
He married Josephine Lockley January 20, 1876. In 1882 they bought the Walling farm near Zena in Polk county, seven miles from Salem.
Surviving are seven living children, 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The children are Mrs. Elizabeth H. Lewis, Portland; Edgar Raymond, an army engineer; Ralph, Polk county; Mrs. Alice Garlington; Robert J., Alaska; Fred C., Bend; and Mrs. Ruth Hosch, Bend.
