OBITUARY: 

Corvallis – Mrs Mattie May Brandt, 77, of Corvallis, died Thursday in a Corvallis hospital after a short illness. She was a resident of Corvallis 49 years, having moved to Corvallis from Muskogee, Okla. She attended elementary schools and a teacher’s college in Muskogee before entering the University of Missouri at Columbia. She moved to Corvallis with her husband Phillip Brandt, who was a member of the Oregon state College faculty. He died in 1958. She was a past president of the Corvallis Women’s Club, stae secretary of the DAR, member of the OSC Folk Club, St Mary’s Chapter 9 of the OES, the First Methodist Church, the Benton County Republican Central Committee. She was a founding member of the Alpha Phi forority and was active in the American Red Cross during World War I.Survivors include son Philip Jr of Salem; daughter Mrs Harriet Hutchinson of North Ridge, calif; and five grandchildren. Services will be 11 am Monay in the McHenry funeral home with private final services at Mt Crest Abbey Crematorium in Salem.  [marker at Zena]
