| OBITUARY: Samuel H. (Bob) Hubbard, 69, died at his home in Bonanza, Klamath county, on February 7. The body was shipped to Dallas and funeral services were held at the Henkle chapel Wednesday with Rev J.A. Smith, pastor of the Presbyterian church, officiating. The burial was in the Brown cemetery north of Dallas. Mr. Hubbard was the oldest of 15 children born to Goldman and Nancy Jane Hubbard. His mother passed away at Colfax, Wash, one month and 12 days prior to his death. He was born near Dallas on October 25, 1860, and spent his youth and early manhood in Polk county. Later he accompanied his parents to Washington, but after a short residence there he went to Bonanza where he remained the rest of his life. Mr. Hubbard conducted a store at Bonanza. His death was attributed to a relapse suffered after a severe attack of flu. He is survived by eight brothers and four sisters, out of the original family of 15 children. Mrs. Nancy Jane Hubbard, the mother, died quite suddenly on December 26, 1928, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Grace Scheriber, at Colfax, Wash. She had been in good health until a few days prior to that time. Mrs. Hubbard was in her 87th year She was born in Howard county, Missouri, July 17, 1842, the daughter of Absalom and Hilah Smith. The famnily crossed the plains in 1846, settlign on a donation land claim at Smithfield. The parents spent the remainder of their lives on this claim. She had four brothers, Henry, James, Thomas and Samuel, and one sister, Emily, who married J.H. Byerley. After her marriage to Mr. Hubbard the couple resided near Dallas for a number of years and all of their 15 children, ten boys and five girls, were born in Polk county. Later they moved to Washington, where Mr. Hubbard passed away a number of years ago. At the time of her death she was survived by Samuel H. (since deceased); McClellan Hubbard, Corvallis; David Riley Hubbard, Spokane; Hannah H. Tetherow, Dallas; Nettie A. Brotherson, Fallon, Idaho; John Hubbard, Cottage Grove; Thomas G. Hubbard, whose whereabouts is not definitely known; Charles S. Hubbard, Colfax; Mrs. Mima E. Davis, Washington; Mrs. Grace Scheriber, Colfax; Joseph C. Hubbard, Endicott, Wash; Lee F. Hubbard, address not known, and Metze Hubbard of near Monmouth. There are 51 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren in the family.
