Henry ‘Hank’ Miller, April 30, 1949-November 2, 2001
Salem – Hank was born April 30, 1949 in Portland, Ore. He moved with his family to salem, Ore in 1954. Hank attended Garfield Elementary and Walker Middle Schools, and graduatyed from McNary High School in 1967. In 1972 he graduated from Oregon College of Education and shortly thereafter married Mary Collier Laing. Hank began his career in mortgage lending in 1972 with First Federal Savings and Loan. He continued to work for the same institution as it became United Savings Bank, First Security Bank and Wells Fargo Bank. He officially retired from Wells Fargo bank in April 2001. Hank’s community service included United Way, Humane Society Board of Directors, American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, National Marrow Donor Program, Political campaigns, Hillcrest Youth Correctional Facility, and West Salem Rotary. He was also active in his church. In 1990, Hank married Debbie Flager. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend to many. Hank enjoyed people, cooking, fishing and golf. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Debbie; daughter, Hayley; sons, Jayson, Bryan and Aaron Flager; brother, Larry; sister, Cheryl; mother, Juanita Isabell; and grandchild, Emily Flager. Visitation will be 12 to 8 pm Tues, Nov 6, and 9 am to 7 pm Wed, Nov 7 at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service. Memorial service will be held at 11 am Thurs, Nov 8 at Salem Alliance Church, 555 Gaines St NE. Graveside service will be held in Smith Cemetery, Monmouth, for family and close friends at 9 am Thursday, November 8.
