Marks, age 34, occupation farmer, b. Mar 1865 in Oregon, along with step-daughters Ethel P. Brown, age 15, b. Dec 1884 in Oregon, and Lena E., age 7, b. Oct 1892 in Oregon. Also enumerated in the home is Eliza Crichlow, identified as gm-in-law [of Chriss], age 84, widowed, mother of 8 children 4 of whom are living at the time of the census, b. Apr 1816 in Pennsylvania.

OBITUARY: 
Cora L. Marks, wife of C. C. Marks, passed away at the family residence in the Elkins district Saturday evening, July 23, following a lingering illness. Mrs. Marks was the daughter of William and Cornelia Evans and was born at Kent, Jefferson county, Indiana, December 23, 1861. When she was seven years of age she moved with her mother to Kansas, her father having died in Indiana. At the age of 15 she came west with her mother to California and a year later came to Oregon locating near Pedee in this county. She was married to Charles M. Brown of Elkins, May 3, 1879, and to this union were born four children, two of whom survive. They are: Mrs. G. B. Jones and Mrs. W. H. Harmon of Elkins. A daughter Bertha died in infancy and another daughter Lena died in 1919. Mr. Brown also passed away in 1895. She was married to C. C. Marks at Dallas, Oregon, October 15, 1896. Besides her husband and daughters she is survived by five grandchildren; Nadine, Glen and Dell Harmon, Alfred and Leroy Jones, all of Elkins. 
Mrs. Marks was a member of the Evangelical church, Neighbors of Woodcraft and the Farmer’s Union. Her kind and gentle nature won the highest admiration of all who knew her and her loss will be keenly felt by the community in which she had lived. Funeral services under the direction of the Keeney Funeral Home of Independence were held at the Evangelical church in Monmouth, Tuesday, July 26 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. C.P. Gates of Portland officiated assisted by Rev. V. A. Ballantyne of Lewisville and Rev. L. H. Willard of Monmouth. Interment was in the Smith cemetery at Lewisville. Pallbearers were Joe Tetherow, T.O. McEldowney, Albert Tedrow, G.G. Hewitt, Walter Roy and Roy Pitzer, all of whom were close neighbors and friends of the deceased.
