Walter “Jack” John Conley, January 22, 1934-November 12, 2008 
MONMOUTH – Walter J. Conley, 74, of Monmouth, died November 12 in Salem. Jack was born in Solana Beach, Calif, to Walter and Loraine Conley. He attended grade school in Solana Beach and graduated from San Dieguito High School in 1951. Jack married Dorothy Upson on November 22, 1953 in Ramona, California. Throughout high school and afterward, he worked on the family dairy farm. Later he ran a feed store and service station. In 1980 he moved his family to Monmouth, where he raised livestock and farmed, until retiring in 1999. Jack’s loves were his family, his farm, working with 4-H and FFA youth, high school sports, and camping. 
Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years; their 6 children, Sherrill of Salem, Cindy (Tom) Holland of Midlothian, Va, Ellen of Hillsboro, Julie (Bill) Danielson of Medford, Kim of Lakeview, and son Jack Jr of Sherwood; grandchildren, David and Michael Ladeby, Samantha and Tom Holland Jr, and Travis and Adam Danielson; sisters, Nancy (John) Elston of Ramona, Calif, and Mary (Dennis) Journigan of Lamoille, Nev; and brother, Fred (Sue) of Oelrichs, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents and a very beloved grandson, Eric Ladeby. 
Graveside services will be at 2 pm Tuesday, November 18 in Fir Crest (Smith) Cemetery, Monmouth, followed by a reception at Calvary Chapel. In lieu of flowers, Jack requested contributions to Polk County 4-H Leader’s Association, PO Box 640, Dallas, OR 97338. Arrangements entrusted to Farnstrom Mortuary.
