BORN AND BURIED NEAR LEWISVILLE
Amelia Clementine Atwater Was Member of Family of Polk Pioneers.
Amelia Clementine Zumwalt was born at Lewisville, Oregon, October 20, 1858, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Zumwalt who were among the very earliest settlers in the southwest part of Polk county. She was married to James L. Atwater in 1884 and to this union were born four children, Mrs. G. W. Rhodes of Salem, Mrs. Addie E. Schwitizer of Lewisville, Mrs. Wilma Meyers of Portland, and Mr.s Mamie Schenk of Tacoma, Wash., all of whom survive her. 
Mrs. Atwater has spent the greater portion of her life at Lewisville, moving to Monmouth about a year ago. Her father was one of the founders of Jennings Lodge No. 9, AA.F. & A.M. of Dallas, which event took place in 1854 and which was recently celebrated by an anniversary meeting. 
She died Wednesday morning, July 30. 
The remains are at the Funeral Chapel of A.L. Keeney, of Independence, and funeral services will be held at the grave side in the Montgomery cemetery near Lewisville Friday, August 1, 1924, at 2 p.m. with Dr. H. Charles Dunsmore officiating. Monmouth Herald, 1 Aug 1924, 1:6
