OBITUARY:
Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 2 pm at the Henkle and Bollman chapel for Mrs. Martha Jane Riggs, 71, who died Monday in Dallas after an illness of six weeks. Rev Fred Towne will officiate and interment will be in the Riggs cemetery. Mrs. Riggs was born on June 19, 1876, at Maxville, Buffalo county, Wisconsin, the daughter of Samuel and Mary E. Burnett [Bennett]. On May 6, 1906, she was married to Rannie Reuben Riggs at Creswell.
Before coming to Oregon, Mrs. Riggs had lived in Missouri, Colorado and South Dakota before coming west in 1902. She had lived on route 2, Dallas, for the past 41 years.
Surviving are one son, George Riggs of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. Audrey Cooper and Mrs. Orvil Allen, both of Dallas; one brother, N.G. Bennett of Monmouth; and one sister, Mrs. Wm Skuzie of St Helens.
