Bernard W. ‘Bernie’ Keeler, June 30, 1916-June 1, 2000
Independence – Bernie Keeler, 83, died Thursday at his home. Born in Albion, Iowa, he graduated from Barnes City High School in 1934. In 1959 he moved to the Willamette Valley, and was a machinist until retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Polk County Pilots Chapter of A.O.P.A. Survivors include his wife, Barbara, whom he married in 1972; daughter, Cheryl Walling of Warsaw, NC; son, Craig of Amity; stepsons, Dennis Thomas of Phoenix, Ariz, Doug Thomas of Beaverton and Dean Thomas of Tempa, Ariz; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visiting will be 6-8 pm today at Farnstrom Mortuary. Services will be 11 am Monday at the mortuary. Interment will be at English Cemetery in Monmouth. Contributions: AOPA Air Safety Foundation, care of the mortuary.
