Born May 1, 1892, in Lassen County, California, she had been a resident of Monmouth since 1974, moving here from Palo Alto, Calif. She was a writer and poet. Surviving relatives include two daughters, Barbara Grassmuck, Ann Arbor, Mich, and Janice Secrest, Monmouth; and five grandchildren. Memorial funeral services will be held at 3 pm Saturday at Farnstrom Mortuary, Independence. Private interment was at the English Cemetery, Monmouth. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Red Cross or the Monmouth-Independence medic units at the respective fire departments.
