She was born at Remer, Minnesota, and had lived in Independence for many years, moving to Alaska about 10 years ago.  Funeral services will be held from the Smith-Parmenter Mortuary chapel in Independence on Friday, June 21, with burial in the English cemetery, south of Monmouth.  Survivors include her husband, Robert H. Sams; two sons, Gary, 10, and Bobby, four; her mother, Mrs. Frank Raines of Baker; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Johnson and Mrs. Marvin Kindall of Portland, Mrs. William Quigley of Baker and Mrs. Evelyn Armbrust of Duluth, Minnesota; and four brothers, Richard of Sylman, Calif, David and Gerald of Princeton, Oregon, and Harvey Murphey of Kings Valley.
