LAST RITES HELD FOR MRS. M. E. TOM HERE SATURDAY P.M.
Services were held from the Smith-Baun mortuary in Independence Saturday afternoon for Mrs Mary Evelyn Berry Tom, with interment at the Old English cemetery south of Monmouth. Mary Evelyn Berry was born October 10, 1864 near Airlie and she lived her entire life in this community. She was married to Thomas Gross on December 22, 1901, who passed away a number of years ago. On November 21, 1940, she was married to Washington Tom, who passed away the following year. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert Harris of Redwood, Calif, and Mrs. Ray Strickland of Portland, and five grandchildren.
