OBITUARY: Joe Cruz Villarreal, 37, 428 Scott St, Monmouth, died Wednesday, September 19, 1984. Born Oct 9, 1946, in Asherton, Texas, he was a resident of Monmouth for 19 years, moving here from Texas. He worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in Independence, and was a member of St Patrick Catholic Church, Independence.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Hilda, Monmouth; his mother, Juanita Villarreal, Salem; a son, Rene, Monmouth; two daughters, Patty and Christina, both of Monmouth; three brothers, Jesse Villarreal, Milwaukie, Ore, Luis Villarreal, Columbus, Ohio, and Carlos Villarreal, Salem; and seven sisters, Mary Moore, Corpus Christi, Texas, Josei Sanchez, Houston, Texas, Eva Dixon, Bremerton, Wash, Juanita, Beaverton, Elida Hopkins, Salem, Connie Cosler, Portland, and Elsa Bowles, Chelan, Wash. Recitation of the Rosary was held Friday at the Farnstrom Mortuary, Independence.
Funeral Mass was held Saturday at St Patrick Catholic Church, Independence, with celebrants Father Brad Killingsworth and Father Andres Guerrero. Interment services followed at the English Cemetery, Monmouth.
