OBITUARY:
ANOTHER PIONEER PASSES
Mrs. Jacob Pfau Goes to Eternal Reward After Long and Useful Life in Oregon.
In the death of Mrs. Jacob Pfau yesterday in Polk county, Oregon loses another of its early pioneers, who aided so largely in developing the Oregon country.
Mrs. Pfau was born in Illinois November 12, 1831, thus making her almost 76 years of age.
At the age of ten years she removed with her parents to Missouri, where on January 29, 1851, she was married to Joseph M. Taylor and removed to Oregon by ox team in 1862. Eight children were born to them, and upon the death of her husband she was married to Jacob Pfau, December 3, 1866. To this union was born two daughters.
Mrs. Pfau united at an early age with the Methodist church South, and has since been a faithful member. Five children survive her, J. M. and A. M. Taylor of southern Oregon, and J.F. Taylor of Prineville, and Mrs. M. J. Bouchard of LaGrande, and Mrs M.I. Capps of Polk county, at whose home she died.
The funeral will be held from the family home at 10 o’clock tomorrow, and interment will be made in the Rickreall cemetery. Oregon Statesman 29 Oct 1907, 5:5-6
