OBITUARY:
Rudolph Miller died in Salem Sunday morning after an illness extending over a year. It was realized for several months that he would not get well. Mr Miller was born in Switzerland in 1862 and was brought to the United States when two years old. His father was a tailor and the son followed the calling of his sire. When of age he enlisted in the army and served his adopted country for many years as a soldier winning special mention at the battle of San Juan Hill and Santiago de Cuba. He was twice married, having one son by his first wife. In 1891 he was married to Miss Jessie Burbank and seven children were born to them. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, Rev W.C. Stewart delivering the eulogy. Mr Miller engaged in the tailoring business in Independence and was found worthy of patronage at all times. He was a kind and neighborly man.
